ENNIS, TX – One of Ennis’ oldest homes, and now the only bed and breakfast, is opening its doors to the public May 19.
The bed and breakfast has only been open for the last few months, and the owners, Sam and Joanne Ventura, say they have had somewhere around 40 guests.
Built in 1905, the home has had just a handful of owners. The home still has many of the same features it had in 1905, and it is formally recognized as the Moore-Ventura house after its first owners and the most recent.
Hors d’oeuvres will be served at the open house, which is formally called a Business After Hours event by the Ennis Chamber of
The home has three rooms available for guests, all named after the Ventura’s three daughters.
Joanne Ventura said walking into the home is like “stepping back in time.”
The Texas Historical Commission recognizes the home for its historical value.
